Dorset County Council (DCC) is consulting on proposals to make changes to the Dorset County Council Registration Service (Births, Deaths, Marriages and Civil Partnerships). The reason for these proposed changes is because of budget pressures and the need for DCC to save £47million by 2017/2018

The proposed changes are;-

To reduce the number of locations where which births, deaths, marriages and civil partnerships can be registered.

Reduce in the number of Dorset County Council managed marriage and civil partnership ceremony venues.

To introduce a two stage marriage preparation process

To charge marriage fees based on full cost recovery

To withdraw the ‘Tell Us Once’ Service for Births

To introduce a new income earning service ‘Nationality Checking Service’

The consultation is open from 16 June to 11 August 2016 and consultation documentation is available online at www.dorsetforyou.com. – Registration Consultation Survey or by collecting a survey form from any Dorset County Council Registration Office or Library.

20th July 2016 – Dorset County Council’s Registration Service – Consultation about changes to the service.
