The Parish Council has now adopted and introduced a wreath policy for those wreaths placed on the village wreath railings next to the cenotaph.

This followed various comments made to the Parish Council during the past year on the amount of time wreaths remained on the railings long after any due period of remembrance. The Parish Council introduced the simple policy after consultation with the Rev. Mark Phillips, Rector at Charminster, Rev. Pene Kennedy, Duty Priest in Stratton, Stratton Parochial Church Council and Friends of St Mary’s Church in Stratton.

In future, wreaths and associated remembrance items will only stay on the wreath railings for a maximum of two months. Wreaths will then be removed and placed in a separate area within St Mary’s Church.
